Vivid and Vibrant

A Kansas Country Garden

This brilliant red day lily has been exceptionally floriferous this year

A pocket of vibrant color comes from verbena, gaillardia, day lilies and hibiscus.
Permission granted to all those gardeners who carefully coordinate the color and bloom times of their flower gardens to feel a little smug and superior.

Tiger lilies are unmistakably orange.

And anyone with strong opinions about orange flowers belonging only in the company of pumpkins and fall decorations will likely be unimpressed.

The true-blue color of the globe thistle is uncommon in the flower garden.

Although to accidental combination of soft yellow and light blue might meet with approval.

Saucy hibiscus contrasts with the stately tiger lilies.

However, if you enjoy vivid and vibrant colors jumbled together

A sweet day lily is flanked by two toned gaillardia.
or sometimes melding together like butter on toast

A spider has made its home on the tiger lily.

then join me for early morning walk through the garden.

Russian sage is a long-blooming perennial with a medicinal scent.
Walk slow and bend low if you don't want to miss any of the beauty.

Old-fashioned phlox have a sweet scent.

Breathe deeply and enjoy the scent of a new day and fresh flowers.

A simple yellow-orange day lily is quite lovely.

What a nice way to start a day!
